Computerized analysis: VISIA and BIA

Computerized analysis: Preliminary evaluation and follow up

Your skin rejuvenation and body transformation process starts with an evaluation of your current condition that allows us to design fully customized, multi-faceted, rejuvenation and body contouring programs which incorporate total body wellness and skin rejuvenation, to help you recapture youthfulness, making you feel as good as you look and look as good as you feel. Every client is different, and every treatment is different. At Spa Cielo, we will design the optimal program just for you.

We do ongoing assessment through the entire treatment program to evaluate your progress every step of the way, using two powerful computerized analysis tools: VISIA: computerized skin scan  and BIA: Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis

VISIA: computerized skin scan

VISIA facial imaging and analysis systems help us to determine the condition of your skin, its relative age and sun damage and provides a clear understanding of your facial complexion’s condition and appearance and gives you valuable information to help protect and preserve your natural skin health. At Spa Cielo, we perform a free computerized complexion analysis on every new client and do follow up analysis throughout the entire treatment.

An imaging session takes only minutes and will give you valuable information to help protect and preserve your natural skin health. It consists of 3 simple steps:

STEP 1: Capture

Your skin care consultant will ask you to remove any makeup and to position your face in the Facial Imaging and Analysis system. The system will quickly take several pictures using different lighting modalities.

STEP 2: Analyze

The system’s computer will then process the images and present the analysis screens and results on a color monitor.

STEP 3: Review

The skin care consultant will go over the results with you to explain what they mean and what steps you can take to correct or prevent the effects of age and environment on your facial complexion.

VISIA’s multi-spectral imaging uses standard, polarized and ultraviolet lighting to analyze eight areas affecting complexion health and appearance. These include wrinkles, spots, brown spots (pigmentation), red areas (vascular conditions) pores, texture (color variation in the skin tone), porphyrins (evidence of bacteria in pores), and UV spots (characteristic of sun damage). Additionally, VISIA provides an informative comparison of your complexion’s characteristics to others of your same age and skin type.

BIA: Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis

Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis or Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) is a method of assessing your body composition, the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment. Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis or BIA is considered one of the most reliable and accessible methods of screening body fat.

Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis or Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) is a method of assessing your body composition, the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. This non-invasive test simply involves the placement of two electrodes on the person’s right hand and right foot. A low level, imperceptible electrical current is sent through the body. The flow of the current is affected by the amount of water in the body. The device measures how this signal is impeded through different types of tissue. Tissues that contain large amounts of fluid and electrolytes, such as blood, have high conductivity, but fat and bone slow the signal down. As BIA determines the resistance to flow of the current as it passes through the body, it provides estimates of body water from which body fat is calculated using selected equations. BIA is safe and it does not hurt. In fact, the signal used in body fat monitors can not be felt at all either by an adult or child. The greater the amount of water in a person’s body, the easier it is for the current to pass through it. The more fat, the more resistance to the current.

Research has shown that body composition is directly related to health.  A normal balance of body fat is associated with good health and longevity. Excess fat in relation to lean body mass, altered body composition, can greatly increase your risks for cardiovascular disease diabetes, and more.  BIA allows for early detection of an improper balance in your body composition, which fosters earlier intervention and prevention.  BIA also provides a measurement of fluid and body mass that can be a critical assessment tool for your current state of health
